Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed along with various senior officials including Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie has inaugurated the Grand Abrhot Library in the capital Addis Ababa. Abrehot, which is Amharic for enlightenment, it is largest public library in Ethiopia opened in capital Addis Ababa in January 2022. The Library is a 4-storey facility which lay on a plot of 19,000 square meters in size located in the Arat Kilo area opposite to the Parliament. It has a capacity to accommodate more than 2,000 users at a time and house 1.4 million books. It is designed to reflect the character of the country which is extremely the rich in culture and history, civilization and an ancient literary tradition.
The library is equipped with the state-of-the-art library facilities and elegant reading spaces and sections for nursing mothers. It also comes with a modern a cafeteria, meeting halls, an amphitheatre, playground, parking lot for over a hundred vehicles, and eight shops providing services related to books.
